Meet the team: Andy Bettell, Head of Employee Benefits
Tell us about your role at PES
As Head of Employee Benefits, I work with our client relationship managers and delivery teams to make sure that every happypeople customer enjoys a seamless service. I also work with our employee communications team. Employees need to know about all the great benefits their employer offers, so making sure that people are aware of happypeople is just as important as the employee benefits platform itself.
What’s a typical day like?
It has a lot of variety. I can be working within the wider PES team, dealing directly with clients, presenting at new business meetings, or speaking with our employee benefit providers. My overarching goal is to help our clients provide the best possible employee experience.
What’s the nicest thing a client has ever said about you?
‘I have to say your team are a credit to PES and we work very well together.’ That’s absolutely what we try to achieve every day.
Why do you like working here?
I think we’re all committed to giving people a great employee experience, and employee benefits are a big part of that. Working with the PES team gives me an opportunity to make employee benefits available for all businesses, using technology in a fun and creative way.
What three words would people use to describe you?
Funny, big-hearted and compassionate.
Tell us one little-known, random fact about you
I’ll give you two. Firstly, I come from London and in my younger days, I was a ball boy at Wimbledon. Unfortunately it was when John McEnroe was taking a break so I didn’t see any on-court tantrums. But I was there second time Boris Becker won the tournament, which was memorable.
Secondly, as well as being able to ride horses, I can also drive a horse and carriage. It’s a very expensive hobby for my brother and father – he owns 16 horses. It’s not something I do that often, but as his son, I had to learn!
